Poco Farms Handmade Maker’s Market
At the Handmade Maker’s Market, we brought out our own collection of poufs and pillows. After long hours finding vintage hanbels, measuring, cutting, sewing, and filling them, how satisfying it was to see a finished product pass to the hands of its new owner! These rugs that were sitting around folded up in tall stacks for decades have a new purpose. Looking forward to experimenting with wedding blankets and other textiles. Thanks to the Maker’s Market organizers for putting on this Benefit for the Thomas Fire!
Sourcing vintage rugs in Morocco is like finding a needle in the haystack. We followed a lead from a friend in our old hometown of Essaouira and connected with a carpet collector in Marrakech. We were privileged to spend two days with him chatting about the history of the craft in Morocco and unfolding and folding hundreds of rugs from his private collection. He is unique in that he is an artist himself and when he repairs a vintage piece he does it so as to render the carpet whole with his own signature style.
